I forgot how much I love OPERA

SO . . . .I had forgotten how much I love opera music until this weekend. It all started when I decided to watch a movie with Alex and Nate (Craig's kids). Alex picked, Mr. Bean's Holiday. If you have not seen this film and want a good laugh, I recommend it. There is the most hilarious scene where Mr. Bean lip syncs and acts out an opera aria. After the movie was over, Alex and I watched the scene 3 more times because was so funny!! We laughed even harder and then Alex acted out the scene with Nate. Too funny!! I couldn't stop thinking about the music and fell asleep thinking about it. That was the memory spark . . .

Saturday night, I watched another movie, No Reservations, with Catherine Zeta-Jones and Aaron Eckhart (hottie!!). This movie also features some amazing opera pieces. My heart remembered and I immediately went to Itunes and downloaded 101 Best Opera Classics. I have been listening to it all day today at work.

One of my other favorites is the scene from the movie, A Room With a View. A field of red poppies in the Italian countryside. She is enjoying the breeze and the warmth of the day and soaking in the view, when out of nowhere a gorgeous man appear and kisses her in such a way that she is weak in the knees and she feels it even to your toes. I long for that kind of passion. Oh yeah, opera . . . during this entire scene, a beautiful opera aria.

I've got to get this movie on DVD and watch it again. I still have it on VHS.

So this afternoon I signed up to volunteer at the with the Utah Opera Company. I can't wait!! I'll never forget going to the Met and seeing La Boheme in NYC, December 1993. Ah nostalgia.

  1. La Boheme was a highlight of my life. I love the kiss from Room With a View, too! This post makes me all mushy inside.
