43 year anniversary!

This past weekend Paul and I ventured to Redvale, CO where his mom and dad live.  What beauty! We loved seeing the calfs, lambs, and baby goats.  We also got to celebrate Bruce and Linda's 43rd wedding anniversary with them! I asked them if they had any advice for a long happy marriage. Their answer was love each other and do things as a family.  They are such amazing people and wonderful examples for Paul and I.

1 YEAR ANNIVERSARY= 1 YEAR OF BLISS

SO.... this past Monday was January 7th, marking mine and Paul's one year anniversary!  It has been an amazing year.  A year filled with love, so much LOVE.  A year filled with adventure...motorcycle trips, deep sea fishing, the Rubicon trail, trips to Colorado, rifle shooting just to mention a few.  A year filled with learning... learning what makes one another swoon, what makes one another feel uncomfortable, what boundaries and what make one another tick.

Monday night we went to a lovely, romantic dinner at Ruth's Chris Steakhouse. The food was awesome and looking across the table at the man I love was bliss. Paul had arranged for the waitress to bring me a surprise with our dessert.  Creme brule' with rubies!!

Before I met Paul I was content with life. Now life just keeps getting better and better.  I feel so blessed.  He is my best friend, my handsome prince, my rock, my love, and still the best man I know.

December 2012 goodness!

Our first Christmas tree together!

Chinese after a night at the temple doing sealings.
(he is sooooo handsome)

My sweet surprise! After I took Paul to the airport, I came home to all the lights off except our Christmas lights and our cool fiber optic tree and these gorgeous flowers with the sweetest card ever. OH! and he left me one of my most favorite treats in the fridge...a caramel apple dipped in chocolate.

Yep! Paul is pretty much the best!
I am so glad we met, fell in love, got married and are on our way to being together forever!!

A roller coaster of emotions

I have found myself on a roller coaster of emotions lately.  Is that just part of life?  Or am I being moody or extra sensitive lately?

I do have a lot going on which could be why.  Here is what I am feeling could be why....

A long distance marriage, so to speak.  Paul is home for three weeks then gone at work for three weeks.  I love when he is home.  I love having him sleep next to me every night.  He provides me with such a sense of security.  I love having the "how was your day" conversation in the evenings.  I love looking at him across the table and knowing he is mine forever.  I love laughing with him and holding hands when we walk.  I love when he comes home after working on his Jeep, stinking of oil and gas - because it reminds me of how manly he is.  I love this man! When he is gone, I smile even though I miss him. I get back into a routine of being a bit more independent.  So when he comes home again, there is an adjustment period.  This last time I just laid in bed and cried for no reason one night.  Poor Paul laid next to me and rubbed my back while I sobbed for no reason.   Then he held me and told me that he loved me.  I cried a little more and then felt better.  I am so glad he loves me even when I am a blubbering, crazy woman that cries for no reason.

I know that things change.  But I am struggling with how my friendships with my two best friends have changed so drastically in the last few months.  Craig is busy in with his kids and his relationship.  Jenna has been busy with Isaiah's baseball, a boyfriend, other friends and other things I guess....I miss the closeness we used to share.  It makes me sad when she talks about someone else as her BFF :(

Paul and I have had some pretty important conversations in the last month too.

Where do we want to be in 5 years?  Where will we live?  Alaska? Washington?

And the whole having kids thing...I just turned 36, 2 weeks ago.  I told Paul,  we needed to get this show on the road.  He lovingly answered, "Whenever you're ready babe."  So friends, pray that I preggers soon.

I guess it's just part life's journey.  I am praying for calmer waters.  :)

True LOVE

"Love...true love...." the famous line from one of my favorite movies from my childhood and teen years, The Princess Bride.  I feel so incredibly lucky to have found my true love, my Paul.  He is so kind and patient and loving.  He even loves me when I am an emotional basket case...and that my friends is worth gold.

ENGAGED!! YES!!

One week and one day ago, my sweet prince Paul proposed to me.
It was a regular night ad I thought we were going on a date to go shoot some guns again. He came to pick me up and said let's just go to dinner. Well, he says he wants to take me to The Roof downtown. The Roof was too crowded and full, so we went to The Garden next door. It was delicious and a gorgeous night. On the way out we looked out at the temple from the observation deck and smooched a little. He suggested we go down and look at the lights for a bit. So after walking around for a few minutes he spotted a horse and carriage and said, "Let's go on a carriage ride." Me, being the romantic I am agreed and we got in the carriage. We got situated and snuggled up with the blankets and started off. Smiling and laughing we enjoyed the ride. About 10 minuted into the ride he reached in his pocket and held out a ring, smiled at me and said, "So does the ring say it all or do you need me to ask?" I said, "Yes, please ask!" He then said, the magic words, "Will you marry me?" I nearly attacked him kissing him and said yes! Yes! We hugged and kissed and then I couldn't stop laughing and giggling out of sheer excitement. He is so sweet!! I called my mom who was in Vegas, Jenna, Craig and Kristine. I sent mass texts telling everyone my big news. Then we waked around for a bit stopping to hug and kiss every few minutes.

Well, I am pleased to announce that as of Jan 7, 2012 at 12:00pm I will be Mrs. Kerr...forever. Paul and I will be getting married in the Salt Lake Temple for time and all eternity. I can't wait. The original plan was Feb. 18th but he, well we can't wait. Our reception will be held at Wheeler Historic Farm in the Activity Barn in the evening. We will have wedding pie - because Paul doesn't like cake. :) I love him so much!! He really is the man of my dreams!!
